Course Overview
Not everyone has been the director of a new company before. For those who are doing this for the first time it can be a challenging experience, starting and building a new company with all the tasks and responsibilities that go with it. There are few easy-to-understand resources available for the new director of a small early-stage company. This course is designed to address that need.
The course is divided into 5 sessions. In the first session we look at the specific responsibilities that every Director has to carry. In the second session we examine the different ways in which the Board of the company can be structured and organised. In the third session we look at the different roles fulfilled by the various Directors appointed to the Board of a new company.
In the fourth session we examine how a director’s responsibilities and priorities must change if there are concerns about the company’s cash position and its ability to trade solvently going forward. We discuss the various issues surrounding application of the “Going Concern” test and what you must do in such circumstances.
In the fifth and final session we examine how to prepare for and conduct a Board Meeting as well as how to manage and maintain good working relationships with shareholders, stakeholders and investors.
This course is in total around 2 hours duration. Each session includes an AV presentation, with a full-featured media-player, presentation deck, textbook, case studies including example Contracts of Employment for employees and Directors Service Agreements for Exec as well as Non-Exec Directors for you to download and retain. This course requires you bring a clean note book or notepad, several pens or pencils and space to think.
